How To Create A Realistic LinkedIn Networking Strategy

For those who are new to social media for business, it may be tricky to know which sites are the best for getting noticed. Since it seems like there is a new business or job site released every week, wondering the best place to be seen by the right people may seem like running a navigation course. The days of simply sending over the basic materials are long gone more people are finding success with a LinkedIn networking strategy.

The marketing process is likely the most familiar process job seekers are aware of. However, new media encourages the use of unique keywords and less generic phrases used to describe soft skills. In other words, it is good to note that a job prospect will work hard and gets along with others but there are other elements that are worth showing off as well.

For those who work with visuals, posting a link to an online gallery or portfolio can help a person get their foot in the door. While some may be tempted to list every single skill they possess, it is a lot more effective to list those that are unusual, like software only used in business, instead of office suites most people know about. If one were to think in terms of an elevator pitch, they can find ways to filter their talents so that viewers do not feel as if they are reading an essay.

If an applicant has a professional social media account that shows off their ability to create marketable visuals, this should be added. Applicants who lack current credentials should consider enrolling in the online training courses available on LinkedIn. Most of these are short term and available to use at any time for a modest fee.

Communication with connections or in feeds should be of value to the reader. Users that start or engage in interesting topics find they attract more prospects and opportunities. While some users may use this as a place to paste referral codes or solicit a product, a good rule of thumb is to check in with the moderator before posting.

Sometimes, if a person can give insightful information about a company without coming off as a complainer or snitch, this may resonate with the right people. No one knows for certain what type of person might be watching who is saying what so posting etiquette is really important. It just helps to have a friendly, if not informative, presence.

This will attract others who are linked to others in a network. These may be former classmates, coworkers, or those who are active in a particular industry in another position, like the board of directors. It also helps to reach out to people by doing an occasional search using keywords that relate to a job position or organization.

Originality in a user profile can also go a long way. Users may want to look at the profiles of their connections with similar backgrounds and find ways to improve without embellishing. A defined purpose can make this process a lot easier. When a person truly believes they will be an asset to a company, their enthusiasm will show in how they present themselves.
