Try Dairy Free Whipped Cream To Make Fast Sweet Treats

By Ryan Phillips

Those who cook at home may sometimes find themselves at a loss when it comes to making a dessert to follow dinner. After preparing the salad, along with the main course and appropriate side dishes, few have time for dessert. The good news is that there are many treats that are fast and healthy that are better when topped with a little dairy free whipped cream.

Making dessert can be very simple as long as there are a few key ingredients within reach. A couple of these would be instant oatmeal, raisins, and unsweetened applesauce. Instant pudding is also a good staple to have around, as it can also be used to top cakes or mixed in for moisture. Recipes like brown betty or a quick apple bake call for these or the applesauce may be enjoyed as a fat free option.

Foods made from plants today mimic a lot of foods made from animal products. The look, taste, and texture can fool just about anyone. These recipes are so good that many carnivores have happily converted to vegetarianism. When meals taste good, it makes dieting a lot easier and better for overall health. Making a lifetime commitment to eating right is the best way to maintain a proportionate body weight.

Layered desserts are also a big hit with those who do not like to spend a lot of time in preparation mode. Any type of cream may go between cake slices, pudding, a fruit mixture, or a combination of everything that looks and tastes good. Even if a person has bananas that have turned brown, these may be chopped and mixed in with a cup or two of whipped cream to make an exciting middle layer.

Busy people can also take advantage of some shortcuts that do not involve going to a bakery or buying a dessert kit. Sliced fruit in a jar with juice or light sweetener can be used as a topping for cake or pie filling. Plain white bread products that have gone stale make the best quick pudding, Just mix with butter, eggs, fruit, and spices and bake in a heated oven until brown. Once cooled, it may be topped with ice cream, whipped cream, bourbon or rum sauce.

For those who have leftover whipped cream, it can be made into a faux ice cream popsicle. Just add a packet of flavored gelatin or hot cocoa mix and stir until even. Place inside small containers that can withstand extreme cold. If there are no popsicle sticks to use, pouring inside a space ice tray with toothpicks is a good idea. Thaw slightly for softness or eat right out of the freezer.

Some just like to eat whipped cream by itself. If there are ripe bananas around the house, these can be blended as a puree and mixed in with the cream. This may be eaten alone or with a little cocoa powder.

While some may pass on dessert for a number of reasons, there is nothing with having a sweet treat once in a while. Calorie conscious individuals may find dietetic versions of their favorites in most books and magazines. There are also online demonstrations that show how to make homemade desserts in a matter of minutes. Making dishes at home is also a good way to give old classics a personalized touch.
