In order to ensure that they perform their work well, they are constructed with greater stability and have bigger cargo spaces.

Individuals also use canoes for competitive water sports. These sports include wild-water canoeing, flat-water racing, marathon, and slalom. Lastly, it is worth mentioning that as a paddler of the craft one is responsible for their safety as well as that of its passengers. In order to be visible to other water users a person is required to wear the recommended brightly colored clothing. Also, the clothing should be suitable for the conditions of the area. Each person on the vessel should be wearing a life jacket.
