Guide On Hog Hunting In Texas

By Patricia Murray

Despite the evolution of the world, we still have some reserved communities whose main source of food is hunting. Apart from just food, people nowadays also take hunting to be a sport. This is however permitted only for animals that are large in numbers are continue to reproduce. The below article elaborates on the needs of hog hunting in Texas.

The first thing is to ensure that you have a chasing license. This is necessary as it shows that the law has allowed you to hunt. You should make sure that the license is on you at all time just in case you run into law enforcement. In the event that you are seeking permission to hunt on private property, you will need to prove that it is legal.

The next step is to pick out the weapon you are most comfortable with. You can choose a gun or a bow and arrow. Some guns require for you to be at close range with the pig while others such as riffles work long distance. In the case of a bow and arrow, it is best to use a heavy pulling weight and use a broadhead arrow to get the pig down.

As a hunter, you should find a blade that is long and up to a quarter of an inch thick. Make sure it is as sharp as sharp can get. You never know when you may need to use it. A case in which you may need such a blade is after shooting down the animal you intended to. The pig may be down but not dead. You may use the blade to finish it off completely.

As you prepare to go chasing, make sure that you are dressed correctly. Going in a short dress and high heels may not be the smartest idea on a chasing trip. Your clothes need to be dull and in line with your surroundings. Otherwise, the pigs will spot you and warn all the other pigs. If you are chasing in groups, however, you will need some sort of bright clothing for identification.

A first aid kit is necessary anywhere and everywhere. A hunt in the wild especially may expose you to a lot of danger. If the pigs do sense danger, they will naturally defend themselves and may end up injuring you. This is however very unlikely considering the shots are taken at safe distance. In any case, a first aid kit should never be left behind.

When it comes to moving the pig, it should not be too hectic. You cannot carry it on your back or with your hands. You need rubber gloves to handle the carcass, a big piece of cloth to lay the pig on and some nylon rope this will allow you to efficiently and easily pull the carcass to the point you need to get it.

Depending on the type of animal you are chasing, you have to pick a time within the schedule of the animal. For wild pigs, they graze in the evening and early mornings. Therefore, you will fail epically chasing them in the daytime.
