Reasons For Parents To Be Supportive Of Pre K For All In Astoria NY

By Frances Perry

Most parents have big dreams for their children. They want them to be happy, successful, well adjusted, educated adults one day. The majority of parents believe one of the best ways to achieve this is by giving their kids the benefit of a good education. There are differing opinions on when formal education should begin however. Some parents want to postpone sending their children to school while, in New York, others support pre k for all in Astoria NY.

Studies have shown that youngsters enrolled in preschool have advantages in elementary school over those who stayed at home. Preschoolers have a chance to get used to a structured environment. They learn how to take instruction from adults other than their parents. Kids in early education are taught to follow directions, share with others, and interact positively with their peers.

When preschoolers enter kindergarten, they already have a lot of the basics down. They are often more ready to jump right into advanced skills than the students who are new to an educational environment. Many parents worry that because their children already have certain skills, they will become bored and disruptive in the classroom. Elementary educators however, are very aware of the challenges and are prepared for them.

Small children get frustrated easily and not all of them know how to channel their negative energy. Preschool teachers are trained to help little ones work out issues without disrupting the entire classroom. Many little kids have never spent much time with children their own age. A structured classroom environment gives them a chance to learn how to interact with their peers in a social setting with adult supervision.

Some parents are more aware than others of the importance of language. Preschool teachers devote time each day to reading and expanding their students' vocabulary. Kids begin to learn how to make conversation and how to express themselves effectively. Preschool students who are introduced to science, art, music, and math can start to learn the language associated with these activities.

Preschoolers are taught basic math concepts in ways that are engaging and fun for them. Pre-math, at this age, is more like play than anything else. Most children love the idea of playing store, buying and selling items, and learning how to count and pay for their purchases. They recognize that these are tasks that their parents and older siblings engage in everyday.

Preschool helps young students master more and more complex motor skills. Little kids love to be active. They need plenty of time during the day to exercise, play, and expend their natural energy. Teachers provide structured playtime that is geared toward improving balance and hand eye coordination.

Many preschools are expensive and the decision to send a child to one of them may require tightening the family budget. These classes however, can be an in important stepping stone to your child's future academic success. Children learn while they are socializing with their peers and gaining confidence within themselves.
