Tips For Hiring Experts In Professional Home Inspection Wenatchee WA

By Elizabeth Kennedy

Some decisions in life are expensive and serious to be taken lightly. One of these decisions is that of purchasing a house. It is a huge investment which makes it critical to get someone to conduct an assessment so that they can identify any problems or defects before buying it. Hiring someone who is not qualified might lead to a misleading report. Below are some questions to ask when employing experts in professional home inspection Wenatchee WA.

The first pointer is checking whether the expert is certified. Credentials are very important when it comes to the person to inspect your property. Talk to friends or your realtor so that they can suggest a few names. Research on these names and ensure the experts recommended are members of home inspector associations. If the person is a certified member, it is an indicator they are licensed, insured and reputable.

After getting a few names of qualified pros, the next step is reviewing previous reports written by the people you are considering. The majority will be willing to send a sample but it does not mean all these samples are correct. Research on what assessment reports should contain and the review all the samples to see if they have all that is required. The report should have over 20 pages and highlight problems by coloring the paragraphs that contain them.

If you find a few satisfactory reports, the next important thing is meeting those assessors in charge of the reports and inquiring about the length of the assessment. The age of the house, the number of electrical and systems to be inspected and the main panels are factors that determine the duration. But an average inspection should be between two to three hours.

Do not forget to request the assessor to attend the inspection process. It is not a must you be there throughout the whole time but at least half an hour so that you can find out the areas they are focusing on and ask a few questions. Being there in person is a great way to ensure you get the value of your money.

Check for reviews online. Do not rely so much on information that is on their website because they can have control over that. However, reviews from independent websites and social media cannot be biased. You will get their real story and in case the majority of the reviews are negative, walk away.

Find out if the person has experience in assessing homes like yours. Even if they have been around for decades but not dealing with houses like yours, they are not competent enough for the task. Get someone with experience and has experience assessing the kind of constructions in the area.

You might ask all the above questions but end up with the wrong person due to conflict of interest. If someone is to suggest repairs, they should provide documents showing they are licensed for the job and do it themselves instead of recommending other people. Otherwise, repairs should come later.
