Sunbathing Compared To The Spray Tan

By Haywood Hunter

Whether one admits it or not, sunbathing comes with its own set of dangers that most people recognize. For one thing, there is the noticeable hike in skin cancer, which is directly related to overexposure to the sun. The spray tan, or sunless tanning is the alternative, which will be discussed below.

People can still get the natural look but they desire, but with safe chemicals. In using these methods, they can develop that beautiful tan in no time, and have no fear of developing skin cancer. Other forms that were developed to attract those who wanted a tan but couldn't do it the natural way include sunbeds. Unfortunately, many of these proved to come with many risks as well. It's important to use sunblock, but it's also important to recognize the fact that it can decrease the amount of vitamin D a person's skin will absorb.

The use of carotenoids are often popular in self tanning methods. These include various antioxidants from tomatoes and celery, among other types of produce as well. Even the consuming them in high amounts can change one's skin tone, so they are safely incorporated into these other methods. Yet another, known as lycopene also changes one's skin tone, and is completely safe.

The world of sunless tanning has changed dramatically over the last few years. Of course, such tans may be temporary, lasting about 10 days, but they give the individual what he or she wants in a short period of time. Such services are available in popular salons, gyms, and spas. The individual only needs to stand in a shower like a stall and await the application which takes moments.

It's important for consumers to protect themselves, such as with avoiding inhalation at the time of spraying and that their eyes remain shut throughout the application. Moreover, some may be prone to an allergic skin reaction, due to the preservatives within the chemical solution. However, this method has been carefully studied by various government bodies around the world, and have found it to be safe.

Certainly, numerous other self tanning methods exist as well. Bronzers have agents that darken the skin tone, and generally come in the form of lotions, creams, and many others. Be careful when choosing such products because they could leave streaks, providing for a very unnatural finish. Staining is also a problem that many will encounter, and such tans are washed away in the shower.

Hands down, the sprayed on tan is the best. It's quick and effective. One other form is the airbrushing, which is applied by a professional, and can last several days. Such methods are best for those who like the sun kissed glow, especially for special events, like their wedding.

Whatever the case, there are lots of options which all lead to everything but what was the norm. Natural tanning is to be avoided at all costs. No one is denying the fact that vitamin D is necessary for good health, and that can be absorbed in just 15 to 20 minutes of daily exposure to indirect sunlight. Everyone should be true to themselves and try to avoid exposure to the sun in its peak hours, which can easily lead to the skin burning very quickly, and thereby increasing risks to developing skin cancer.
