How To Sell Sunless Tanning Lotion

By Haywood Hunter

The market is currently filled with several products that give elegant tanning effects when applied properly. Choosing the right commodity however needs some experience and knowledge about tanning products. To choose a good product, one needs the right information on application procedures, content of the product, and skin type. This article contains information on choosing a good sunless tanning lotion.

The first thing one should know is skin type. Human skins fall under three major types, though each type has several sub-divisions. The skin types are medium or olive, dark, and fair. Fair skins should not be subjected to tanning beds or sun rays because they burn. Medium skins tan elegantly without burning in sun while dark skins do not burn or get tanned either. They experience minimum color change in sun.

Tanning products fall under five main groups, that is, tingle, bronzers, moisturizers, facial tanners, and accelerators. Each group of products needs varied time frames to give different results. Although they may all attain similar outcomes, the working varies may vary a lot. Skin type should be the consideration when choosing a product because ingredients and their level of concentration differs in various products.

Concentration of a product is gauged in terms of the amount of erythulose and DHA contained in it. DHA and erythulose are the main active ingredients in tanning lotions responsible for causing the tan. They react with amino acid in dead cells in the epidermis layer. Fair-skinned people should choose products with lowest concentration because high concentrations can cause burning too.

Skin is kept moist and soft by moisturizers in a lotion. Moisturizers should be considered because the moisture helps the skin to tan faster than when the body is dry. Bronzers are also important and they are of two types. The two types are gradual and immediate. Immediate bronzers cause a darkening effect on skin immediately they are applied whereas gradual bronzers need time to build up the tan. The choice between immediate and gradual bronzers should depend on how urgently the tan is required.

Many individuals fear tingle, although it is able to give elegant results when applied in the right way. First, it causes reddening and a great feeling of irritation on the skin. It causes the skin to look horrible while the irritation is very uncomfortable, but when it stops, it leaves behind a beautiful tan. First timers are advised to apply tingle on their first application. Tingle builds the initial tan which can then be sustained through frequent application of other products.

Accelerators are the other essential additives that beginners should consider. Accelerators and maximizers that contain aloe help in slowing the aging process and improve ability of the skin to heal. They also speed up tan formation. A list of all ingredients a lotion contains is printed on the container.

The effect caused by tanners fades away with time because dead epidermal cells slough off daily. The effect of tans only happens in the outermost skin layer and is lost when cells that form the layer slough off. To keep the tan fresh, one has to reapply the lotion frequently.
